Department’s Profile


The Department of Public Relations and Communication is involved in teaching Master’s and Bachelor’s course modules in both full time and part time form of study. It provides teaching of some compulsory Bachelor’s programme modules (Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Management, Communication Practice, Rhetoric). The department’s main mission is to deliver teaching of ‘Public Administration and Public Relations’ programme, coded 6202R058, together with the Department of Public Administration and Law. Within this programme the department is the guarantor of ‘Public Relations’ courses: ‘Communication and PR’ and ‘Marketing in Communication Relations’.


As far as Master’s programmes are concerned, the department is a guarantor of ‘PR and Media Communication’ course, under ‘Political Science and Politics in the International Relations’ programme. This course is designed to suit those, who want to master not only the theory of media communication in modern society, but also to acquire practical skills and use them working in public administration, political parties, non-profit organizations or PR companies. The department also provides teaching of other course modules (PR in Public Administration, Sociology and Information Society).

The department builds contacts with other establishments and professional practice, in particular with The Czech Institute of Advertising and Marketing Communication (ČIRMK), which provides technical facilities for some tuition and also students’ work placement opportunities. The department also cooperates with foreign institutions, the Swedish Dalarna University in particular.
